Following the Kick off meeting, the project team conducted an activity to create a vision of sustainable development of local communities. This activity involved researching two separate, but mutually interrelated and interdependent levels of study on EU waste legislation and country-specific data. Through this activity, the team was able to gain an overview of the European Union’s waste legislation and how it aligned with the goals set out in the official documents of the European Union. They also gained an understanding of the country-specific data on various aspects of environmental management, both on a national and local level, including the produced quantities of waste and mechanisms of tackling environmental risks. The next activity was the creation of a digital depository, which was comprised of local actors from three participating countries, including individuals, non-governmental organizations, and decision-makers. This was used by partner organizations to determine the amount of local actors working in the fields of waste management and youth participation, and how many of them were conducting activities related to both fields. To facilitate this, three working meetings were organized in which local actors could discuss attempts and projects that addressed issues related to waste management and youth participation. Additionally, three youth workers were given the opportunity to cooperate with members of partner organizations.
